This is the sword I use the most, not because it's my favorite, but because of the low price I don't feel the need to be so careful with it (careful as in keeping the blade in one peice, I'm still plenty careful if people are around). The blade isn't so sharp that it'll cut just by touching it. With force, however, it'll cut just fine. The handle isn't much of a shock absorber so don't go around slashing at anything within range. It's all one peice, so no worrying about it breaking. I think this is a great buy since you get two blades for a low price and you probably won't mind too much if it gets damaged. Not a pretty sword to look at and not something for a collector of fine swords, but if you always wanted a sword to cut things with, this'll do the job.

I agree with shinobi, I just purchased these today at a Gun and Knife show today and they feel very nice. With the one piece construction the only it seems you need to worry about is a numb hand if you hit metal too hard. But other than that I think they're definatly worth the cheap price. Great pair of blades to start off a collection with.

I recently purchased this set.
This is a valueable set not only for its construction but also for its durability. This set is useful for many uses ranging from a fancy machete to a weapon of self-defense. I specificaly recomend this to skilled martial artists, and "sword set collectors".

This is my first purchase from swords online and I must say I am extreamly impressed with the swords. I had my worries at first, but once receiving them I have yet to find a complaint with them.
The blades are very solid and finely crafted, the sharpness isnt too good but well useable if you apply some force. I've spent most of today (I got them today) chopping things to bits with them and have yet to find a problem with the swords.
Amazingly well done a must buy!

I really like the black blades, I think they look cool. They aren't TOO too sharp, but they could hurt you if you aren't careful.
It's kind of hard to pull them out of the sheath because the clips get in the way. Other than that these are very cool swords for their price.

great first time swords, they put some nicks in the blade when fighting, but its not bad. even after washing your hands the oil from your hands shows up on the black blades, so avoid touching them. the 18 incher has no problems with the sheath, the longer one gets a little stuck but is easily pulled with a little pressure. all in all, great quality and buy

These swords tend to lose their sharpness rather quickly when you use them to cut brush and small trees. The bigger one tends to have problems with keeping its nylon hand grip on the handle and will come off, but it's nothing a little super glue can't fix. The smaller one doesnt have as many flaws due to it's lighter weight. These swords are very good for the price i'd suggest them for anyone whos beginning any kind of sword collection.

These are the second sword set I have bought. The first from this website. With proper force they can easily cleave bushes and small trees and the low price is great. The case makes them easy to carry. The only problem is the grip. It easily slides and must be fixed. Unless you glue it or something.

I love these blades! I keep them in the sheath unless I am using them to practice combat skills. I enjoy using them in combat, considering they are one peice blades. Tip to all: If you wrap leather over the nylon straps, it feels better, and if you can tie it good like me, you can make it so it doesnt slide. These swords are about perfect overall, and I reccomend the buy, to ANY blade or weapon collector!

this is a great pair of swords.... i am really into ninja swords and tools. this is the first of my purchases from swordsonline.com and i am happy with the prompt delivery and the awesome service.
the swords are a little duller than i had hoped for, maybe i can find a sharpener. the sheath is extremely poor considering the quality of the look of the swords. i am overall happy about it, and plan to purchase the third sword that would go to this set.
thanks guys!

The sheath is pretty sturdy, and the reversible clips are a godsend. The swords do tend to get caught - something about the sheath's lip and the curve just before the blade, as seen in the pictures. It's very comfortable to wear as well, even if it's pretty hard to disguise the fact that you're wearing a 26 inch sword. Pretty intimidating, which is good, because right out of the box they're not really dangerous. You need to spend some quality time with a sharpener to get these blades ship-shape, and then you might not want to use the sheath - might cut right through it. The one-piece construction makes it much easier to stop worrying about breaking it and even if you do, it's a bargain-priced set anyway. The handles are pretty comfortable, though the nylon tends to slip. You may want to invest in some heavy-duty grip tape, both for longevity and cushioning. Or you could be cheap and just secure it with glue. ^_^ The blade's coating is nice, and lends a shadowy feel to the blade. All in all, a good set of practice - or real - swords. But remember to sharpen them regularly and often.

These swords are the best. I fully reccomend them. I got them today and was very suprised. About what you ask? Everything! I expected to get some cheap sword not worth the money. Boy was i ever wrong. These swords are worth AT LEAST 2 times as much as i paid for it. I have spent all day testing them and have found only one problem. As everyone else says the swords grip becomes loose with the use of the large blade. the small blade seems to be tighter wrapped. This is the most functional sword in my collection and is the best sword set i own. I reccomend these swords to anyone and everyone. These swords are the bomb.

Recieved these today and I am highly impressed. Having read prior reviews, I expected nothing less. I have many weapons, both functional and decorative, and these serve well as both. I would not recommend them for cutting brush, but I would never recommend any weapon be used as a tool. I also noticed that the sheath could be worn on a belt by inserting it through the top or middle of the "leather" part. All in all, a worthy set and a fantastic value

Overall I like the construction and balance of these swords. The sheath is of good quality and can stand up to the test of time. Only one minor thing wrong, the handle cord slips on the actuall handle, but all you need is a little patience to push it all back the right way. I cut the box it came in and needless to say.... there's not much left. These are a bit short compared to what I'm used to using, katanas, and I HAVE cut myself trying to use them, but still a good item to have and at a VERY good price for anyone.

I recently bought this set from a pawn shop (and paid too much). I was imprested with this set as soon as I held it. The grips feel very confinable in my hands. They fit very neatly in the sheath. Being full tang, they are strong enough to be used full. I did, however, find a few small flaws with them. One flaw is the handle wrap. When I first began using them, the wrap slowly slipped to the bottom if the handle. I simply rewrapped it using the same material, but I wrapped it much tighter. Since then, I have not had trouble with the grip. Another flaw is the finish. Though they look great in black, it is easy to damage this kind of finish.

this set overal is very usable. it is far better to cut stuff with it than to ook at it. it does have some minor flaws. the grip tends to slid and move if used alot. another flaw, is the scabbard. with my set it is nearly im possible to take the smaller sword out of the scabbard with out removing the larger sword first. i give it the full contact use because these swords can take a beating. use them a much as you want and as hard as you want and the worst you could do to these swords is scratch or chip the black finish.

ok, this is one of my favorites weapons, at least from this site. i got these along with a naginata, you can look up that review elsewhere. anyway, these vipers are great. solid one peice construction and the blades are sharp to. being in the same sheath leaves you really mobile with them to. good balance and all that stuff. just great. only problem is the wrapping on the handels comes off a bit, get loose fast, but doesn't come off. and if your not carefull you could cut the sheath up a bit, i haven't but i could see it happening to others. so thats it, get these they are great.

I didn't buy my set of Viper Twins From Sword Online, but that doesn't really matter. First, I gave it "nearly flawless" because A)The wrapping on the handle is not very comfortable at all, and B)the wrapping is somewhat loose, and it shifts when you swing the weapons. But hey, what more can you ask for when it costs so little? Anyway, I don't know about everyone else, but the set I got was pretty dull, like step-above-a-butter-knife dull, thus the "semisharp" rating. On the flip side, it makes them better for training/forms. Obviously, these things are full contact as well. Seeing as they are made up of three peices, there isn't a whole that can come loose. Overall a steal for the price.

I liked this set alot because I could go out in public with them hidden on my body. Very versatile.
My only problem was the wrapping coming off, but I found a great way to stop that from happening.
I have noticed some boats to have rope guard rails and the rope was dipped in tar. I did the same with the cord handle of the sword set.
I took it off then dipped the whole thing in boiling tar. Then after I felt the tar had saturated the rope or cord I quickly wrap it around the would be handle. If the tar dried, I would reheat it to make it more plyable. After I was finished I would let it dry till it was stiff.
This provided me with an excellent handle. Perhaps Swords Online will use my technique.
I don't have it anymore because I gave it away to someone who beat me in combat.

I just received this set in the mail and have been messing around with it for about 2 hours now, and I am mightily impressed.
While the swords are somewhat smaller than I expected, they make a nice set. As others have said, the blades tend to catch on the nylon sheath, but it's not really a big problem.
The smaller one resembles a tanto, and seems too small to be really useful, but the larger one is about the right size, and they are both perfectly weighted.
Mine didn't come pre-sharpened (something I plan to fix very soon), nor do I have the problem with the grip coming loose.
Conclusion? A great set for the price, solid, although I wish they were carbon steel instead of stainless.

My fourth sword (fourth and fifth I suppose you could say). Starting with the bad news, as many have said the wrap does come off if not well secured but that's easily fixable. They are also a tad shorter than I expected. On the pro side they are very light and perfectly manuevarble, good for swinging around and they are extremely durable. Full contact is no problem for these. The sheath it comes with is also very very nice. It's excellent for the price especially if you like twins. 8/10

I just had these shipped to me. UPS banged it up pretty badly, but it was packed very well and suffered no damage. The swords are duller than I would have liked, but that's nothing a few minutes with a sharpener shouldn't fix right up. I'm not really sure how to sharpen out the tip yet, as it seems like it would take quiet a bit of effort to puncture one's skin with the dull point. I haven't noticed the wrapping falling off yet, but I just got them, so if it starts, I'll just rewrap it (it's really not that hard).
On to the good things...
The swords are nearly flawless in every way. The black finish adds a really nice touch, and they have a nice weight and feel to them. The balance point on both swords is an inch or two away from the grip. The feel sturdy, and I'd have no problem taking them up against just about anything.
The nylon sheath is of good qualitiy as well. However, I'd imagine that once I sharpen these, it may start to get rips in it for normal use. If you recieve your weapon with a good edge or sharpen it to such, be careful removing and restoring these to the nylon sheath.
For anyone looking for a nice sword that you can really use, buy these. They are definatly worth the money.

As the title says, you get what you pay for, but I don't mean that negatively. I was pleased when I got these swords, and it wasn't just the cost.
Both swords came in pretty good shape. No blemishes or scratches or really anything. The only flaw I've seen so far is that on the longer of the two blades, mine was ever so slightly bent, barely noticeable, and probably just that way since of the way the two sit together in the sheath. They're basically lying on top of each other. The nylon sheath so far is good, it holds them fairly well although the practicality of having these swords on your back just isn't practical. I've had a bit of trouble trying to get just the wakizashi out, and the tanto is a bit harder. I haven't so far had any problems with the wrapping, but if I do, it wouldn't be a big problem. But the quality overall is greatly satisfying for the amount I paid.
The tanto of the two is probably the sharpest, but neither of them really have a sharp edge. If you use force, you can cut with either of them. But just sliding it across your arm won't cut you. But I plan on properly sharpening both blades. Again though, for the cost, the sharpness is really minor.
I haven't messed around with the swords too much but seeing as they are one piece, they're definitely fully functional. I'm sure they could take quite the beating. The sheath, being nylon, might get rips later on with use, especially if you sharpen the swords, with the way they go into the sheath, and with its slight awkwardness in how it is on your shoulder, in itself, it's not too functional, or rather practical. I personally either carry the whole thing in hand, or I customly strap it inside my vehicle...not to encourage anyone else for my bravado/stupidity.
Again, you get what you pay for. But I still think this is a great set, especially for the price. If you're looking for something cheap, something you won't worry too much on damaging when playing around, these swords would be good. But if you're looking for something as a display...this isn't it unless you plan on having all three pieces, both swords and the sheath, looking prettyily on the wall which just doesn't sound tasteful for display. Overall, it's probably a steal of a bargain because you get two fairly good blades for quite a cheap price. I'm satisfied and I recommend this item to anyone looking for some feasibly cheap, but well functional blades.

They're short - the smaller one isn't much bigger than my large cutting knife in the kitchen. They don't have much adornment so they're not really display pieces but they're sturdy and look like I could really whack something with them and the solid black color that only occasionally catched the light makes them look cool when I'm playing around with them.
Overall they beat the heck out of the Rambo Survival Knife I bought mail order when I was a kid by a long shot.
I don't really get how the sheath is supposed to work though. It seems like it's supposed to sling across my back but I can barely reach the larger sword and no way at all to get the smaller one from that vantage.

This set which I recieved about a year ago is amazing for the price, the blades have a beautiful finish and have a nice weight to both of them, at arrival they could easily cut through leather straps and the nylon sheath is well put together as well, these seem perfect as a set of assassin blades and the angle of the actual edge doesnt allow for much more sharpening however if your not worried about ruining the black finish they could be made much sharper

This sword set is a true delight for any sword collector or blade enthusiast. The best attribute of these swords is that they are capable of tough, full contact use. Absolutely no worries of a loose blade coming off the handle. Both swords are not as dull as they look on the images provided by this website. I was very surprised to see how sharp they actually were, not utility sharp, but sharp enough to make them formmidable. One can rub their fingers across the edge and probably not get cut, but any chop with either sword will cause some damage. The blades are kind of thick, which is good because it gives the swords plenty of striking weight, but it does limit easy sharpening. The points are not as dull as they look, they are actually quite sharp! Infact it was the sharpness of the points that surprised me most. The highly accented tanto style tip limits easy penetration of tough targets, but the swords are still cable of good thrusts. Either way, both blades could use some good sharpening. the swords are well balanced, about three and a half inches off the guard on both weapons, allowing a lot of dexterity when handling the swords. The sheen (luster) is of a superb flat black enamel, giving a very impressive dark stealthy look to them that makes the swords almost invisible at night, and it does'nt come off that easlily. The sheath is not bad in terms of quality, but removing and inserting the swords is a bit agitating. It can be worn on the belt or strapped across the shoulder; prefferably on the belt. The smallest of the swords (tanto) was noticably bent a little, due to the way it is stored in the sheath, presing against the larger one, but it does not affect its performance. The largest (wakizashi) is ever so slightly bent, but not noticable. As everyone else sais, the cord handle wrapping does come off after a short period of swinging. The problem is easliy fixed by tightening and then bonding the handle wrapping with a tough adhesive. I found the nylon wrapping to be a bit slippery and insecure during prolonged use, and also the handles are a little thin for comfort. A good solution is to remove the wrapping and replace it with several layers of black electrical tape, making a more practical grip. One of the best things about these swords is that one can easily customize the handles to their desire. These twin swords perform well. They are fast, agile, and both hit pretty hard despite their size. They are not so good, however, for defensive purposes as they offer almost no hand protection. They are not quite so light at first handing, but one does get used to the weight. This is a very good set for beginners of sword collecting and make a very fine gift, especially when considerind the price. They are a lot of fun to swing around (with caution and maturity of course) and one can take great satisfaction slicing through watermelons, boxes, old pillows and what not. An exellent functional set for an awsome price, plenty of fun and lifetime with these swords. One thing that bugs me though, is when I first received this set and removed it from its packaging, there emmited from the sheath and swords a curious bitter oder. The whole set smelled of vomit and factory chemicals, thankfully it wears off as you handle the set.

I know a guy who has these swords. When he was living with another friend of mine, I noticed them and went to investigate. The blades and handles are one solid piece and the steel is of durable quality. The machine-sharpened edge is pitiful, but it can be sharpened at home.
After about two minutes of handling, the grips came undone and fell off. Underneath is some padding wrapped in tape to give the handels some thinckness. I would suggest, as soon as you get these, take off the chord grips and replace them with friction tape or duct tape.
That's the only truely dissapointing feature of these swords, but otherwise, a great deal and one you should take advantage of.

and i tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to craftsmanship and designing....so of course even the smallest flaws will throw me off.
like someone said, they are pretty short. the longer of the two is like 25.5 inches long, and the shorter is 18 inches long.
the one piece-ness is cool, and the black steel is a nice touch, but just as i measured it with my metal ruler, it left a scratch on the blade, revealing the silvery metal underneath. awesome.
my gripe with this, and the black wooden daito i ordered a while ago with my friend, is that so far these three swords have been curved. not perfectly straight. and the tip of the longer of the two vipers, is not evenly sharpened. one is more shaved down the other, almost like a lopsided triangle. i don\\\'t know what happened here, but i doubt it will make much of a difference depending on what it would be used for.
anyway, if you don\\\'t really care much about PERFECTION for a 20 dollar item ( 30 for me with shipping ) go for it!
however, if you are like me, and think they\\\'re something cool to add to your collection, go ahead as well. just be warned that you might have to clean the surface with some wd-40 or sharpen them yourself somehow...
i wish they were a bit longer, and perfectly straight, but other than that, great buy!

I recently purchased this set and was very pleasently surprised by them. The tips of the blades are quite sharp but the rest of the blade isn\'t as sharp as I prefer, but me and my wetstone can fix that. I would say that this is an excellent set for anyone who wants a new toy to play with and at an excellent price as well. Just remember to handle them with care.

These swords are the best I've ever used. They're cheap so your not worrying so much about breaking them and the handle and blade are one piece. These swords are awesome!

these are nice swords
mine got to me about 2.5 weeks after i ordered them
they had scratches on them
the tip was the only sharp part
the larger one was slightly bent
and the wraping on the grip fell off after cutting the box up
but they are nice swords
a good buy if u want something cheap
