A magical sword given to Frodo Baggins by his cousin Bilbo, the original Ringbearer. It is up to Frodo and the chosen "Fellowship" to cast the Ring back into the fires of Mount Doom, where it was originally forged, and destroy it once and for all. Bilbo gives Sting, a sword made by Elves in the ancient days, to Frodo to serve him on his harrowing journey. Bilbo carried Sting with him when he originally acquired the Ring from Gollum. Sting's blade glows when Orcs, the violent footsoldiers of Sauron, are present. Engraved on the blade and cross guard are runes in the Elven language of Sindarin that say "Maegnas is my name, I am the spider's bane."

This sword is awesome. Just as Bilbo said in The Fellowship, Sting is light. It being light, it's even more fun to swing around! Be careful though, it's also sharp. If you want a sword from the Lord of the Rings and don't want to spend a whole bunch of money, then I reccomend Sting. Even if you are willing to spend a lot, I reccomend it.

I was always hesitent to buy this sword because i wanted something that was bigger and better but sting has not dissapointed me yet. It is very well balanced and light as a feather for fast and quick swings it is a little pricy but anyways it is a sword that macthes up to any and makes a good addition to a collection.

Sting is, overall, an excellent sword and would add not just to a Lord of the Rings sword collection, but any sword collection. I particularly liked how intricate the engravings on the blade were. The edge is not very sharp, but the tip of the sword is sharply pointed and very well could injure someone if it is not handled with care. The lightness of the handle makes and exellent contrast to the weight of the blade for a very nicely balanced sword.
A great Lord of the Rings item and a jewel to any collection!

This was my first LOTR sword purchase. I decided to go with sting because of it's fantastic design and the fact that it was a bit cheaper than the other swords. I wasn't too sure on the quality of these swords so I didn't want to invest to much money just in case. Well, my worries were totally washed away when I first opened the box. The sword is very sturdy and very well crafted. I also picked up the scabbard which is also a great item. Sting kicked off a collection that I am very happy with.

This is the second sword I purchased off of swordsonline. this sword id really worth every penny spent. i also highly reconmmend buying the scabbered, you can't have sting with out it. i truley believe this is made by elves because of the stunning elvish ruins along side the blade, it is also so very light, making it easy to make quick and fast swinging movements. if you are a true fan of LOTR you may also be interested in buying aragorn's ranger sword and scabbered. aragorn's sword is also very stunning in detail and beauty, i also highly recnmmend purchasing these two awesome swords and scabbers

Sting is a beautiful Sword. Well it is more of a dagger, quite a bit smaller than the other LOTR swords, which is understandable because it is made for a Hobbit. It is light as a feather, and it has a fairly mean point and an edge that will cut you if your not careful. The hilt is superbly detailed, as are the etchings on the blade. I also bought the scabbard which makes Sting look even classier. Well worth the price.

This is an excellent reproduction of the sting sword. The quality of it is the best I've seen so far in all the swords I've purchased. Well worth the money. The only thing I can think of that is kind of a complaint is that if you buy the scabbard with the sword, it can sometimes scuff up the blade a little. Minor problem that a little maintanence will take care of. Other than that, truly a classic.

This was the second sword I bought and I was so impressed with it that out of my collection this is the one I take around to show to people. Although small this sword is perfect. Light as a feather and perfectly balanced. The quality of this item is amazing! As I have learned the elvish languages I was pleased to find that the markings on the blade were absolutely correct! I love this sword. Sure to impress all of your friends, sword knowledgeable or not!
I was very pleased with Sting. It is very well crafted and its leaf-shaped blade design really draws attention as a display piece. My only criticism is the "weathered" design given to the handle.
This was the first LOTR sword i bought and i was very impressed. The sword fell very sturdy but i would not reccomened using it in combat because of the rat tail tang. It is a smaller sword but that dosnt matter because it is made for the hobbits. If you have the money i reccomend buying the sword and the scabbared.

As per any Tolkien fan knows, Sting, ("maegnas" in elvish) was made as a long knife for an elven noble of high rank. Its length makes it suitable as a sword for a person of smaller stature, (hence, a hobbit "sword"). The weapon is faithfully and beautifully rendered by United Cutlery. The balance point of the weapon is about an inch and a half beyond the cross-guard. The weapon would be suitable for combat as the rat-tail construction runs a half inch thick continuation of the blade into the handle. Weakness only comes into play on rat-tail tang constructed swords of considerabliy more length. A wonderfull wall mounted piece, sting is a testament to the faithful recreation of Tolkien's classic into movie form.

A very faithful rendition of the movie prop, this blade is a great weapon for starting a collection or someone who is looking for a first time buy. Its slightly cheaper than some of the longer swords but it more than pulls its weight! It is a functional sword as far as stabbing through beer cans but i'd never strike another blade with it. The only critasism is that the blade thickness near the cross guard is slightly thinner than the movie prop but still a fabulous sword and great for showing off!

I have many swords and kinves here and there around the house. My wife puts up with this as she loves me. But the STING belongs to her. She loves it. It hangs in the "living" room in full view. That says alot about the quality if this fine sword. Buy it, you will love it too.

when my orc of a sister in law in near? Just kidding. It is a very exquisite sword though. The detail on the blade is an exact replica and very pretty. The handle has silkscreen designs which was kinda dissapointing so I difinitely wouldn't use it or it may rub off. Why people spend all this money on nice weapons and then sparr with them I don't know. I did bleed myself though while handling it so it is fairly sharp. Overall a very fine blade!!
