The Sam-sam, as I call it, is a great sword, an awesome katana. The handle is definitely a very showy one, and the blade has an awesone design. The steel should be just a little thicker, in my opinion. Its thin design makes for limited functionality, but still works good. The strange characters make for a cool display. The saya is very easy to scratch, which isn't good for the black coat. Overall, the legendary sam-sam 30 hundred is a great sword for a great price.

The first thing I noticed about this sword was that it was heavy. The blade itself is very light; however, the construction of the handle is very thick and weighs a fair amount. This serves to shift the balance of the sword to nearly where the guard is. This makes for fast sword movement but lessens power; but since the blade is made from very thin 420 stainless steel, this is probably a good thing. If you were to try cutting anything thicker than a couple of carboard boxes, the blade would probably snap off. On the plus side, the stainless steel makes for easy cleanup, and United Cutlery has edged it in such a way that it is magnificently sharp. I mean it; you can cut yourself pretty severely on this thing. As for the rest of the sword, the guard tips extend in a downward (i.e. handle) direction, which can sometimes impact your fingers while you're holding it. It's not a very comfortable handle, but if you don't hold it too close to the guard it's not too bad. Finally, I definitely would NOT suggest using this sword to cut anything heavier than cardboard boxes. In fact, after cutting 6 layers of cardboard that I had taped together, the sword started rattling and the handle/guard assembly became loose. I tried to take the handle apart to see if I could fix it, but I have no idea how they constructed this thing.
So in summary, the Samurai 3000 Katana is pretty, moves quickly, and is very very shrap, but should never be used to cut anything thicker than cardboard or maybe squishy fruit.

This Katana is VERY impressive in the futuristic sense. Great care is needed to preserve the blade's appearance and quality, just oil it weekly or bi-weekly and you are good to go. Make sure to look for any tiny rust spots as well, Bar Keeper's Friend works great on taking care of any rust spots you see. The edge is very impressive and sharp enough to be used as a machete of sorts, but don't use it against very tough woody plants, including trees, please! It's well-balanced and quite light enough to try out any moves you have in mind, just beware of the guard and you should be OK.

This sword is one of the finest i have ever had the plesure to own. It is incredibley hardy because of the all metal design. I have had it for over a year and have never seen any rust, I have sliced everything from walls to pumpkins and still the blade keeps its sharpness. It should not be weilded by someone who does not have experience as it is incredabley sharp. It is quite functional but caution should be taken as the guard can poke your hand (OUCH!).

Apearence: This sword is ,in my opinion the best looking thing on this site as far as the photos go.
Scabbard: is high quality and the locking mechanism is nice to have.
Tip: extremely sharp but since the katnana is primarily a slashing weapon the tip doesnt matter nearly as much as it would on say a rapier
Edge: not that sharp but has a curve to it and bottom area is nasty.
Balence: this is the worst part of the sword, the handle is MUCH too heavy and the blade isnt heavy enough. Because of this its swings dont feel like they have much power behind them. Its long handle makes up for this a little, since you can torque it to put more power into your swings.
Strength: made out of stainless steel so you cant expect much here. Also the blade is too thin as i said before. One thing it does do well is keep its edge
Overall: its a great looking wallhanger/display peice thats fun to swing around and its a steal for the price, but if you are looking for a battle worthy sword this isnt for you.

I bought one of these a while ago and it is very easy to break the handle. It really can't handle much abuse. The blade however lasts a very long time, (Even if you lose it in the woods for a few months) and doesn't take much maintanance.

From the first moment I saw this sword, I fell in love with it. The secret release button is an interesting addition, but seeing as how I am left handed it is a little difficult to release the sword sometimes but it isn't all bad. The sword is sturdy and sharp, a little on the heavy side but the beauty of the blade makes up for that.

I've been in possession of two of these swords. The first broke in the handle, and became loose and made a "clank" sound when you swung it. It was still safe to swing, but it didn't ... SOUND safe. After that, I replaced it, and when the second one CAME with a damaged handle, and I figured it was a design flaw. The sword is TRULY BEAUTIFUL and will impress any of your friends. The blade is quite sharp, and very dangerous. Before it broke, I demolished about 10 square yards of cardboard box.

This is the first sword I have ever purchased and I am extremely happy with it. Beautifully made and as solid as a rock this sword is a must for any collector. The sword is quite heavy, especially in the handle, that I can say may be its only fault. I am yet to test the sharpness of the blade but just by looking at the blade I could tell it was quite sharp. At this price, how could you not look past it?

This sword does look very nice, but the quality of it was less than I was expecting. The handle was slightly loose, and because it is metal was heavy, but otherwise it was in good shape. the blade on the sword wasn't sharp, except for the tip which was very pointy, however I was expecting more edge sharpness since Katanas are for slicing rather than stabbing. I wouldn't recomend this sword for any real contact use, if you must hack at something with it, cardboard or something simalar would be all I would recomend using, all in all a nice display piece with a technological appearance.

This sword is simply amazing, the blade is very sharp all the way over and it's perfectly balanced. As I swing it I can almost hear it cleaving the air, the sword has a magnificent appearance, very technological. The only bad thing I can think of is that the release button is sometimes a little stiff and makes it hard to get the blade out of the sheath, but other than that it's a magnificent weapon, both for display and functionality.

first off, i must say that this is one of the nicest looking swords that i own. The all metal parts give it a very clean and sharp look. It is a very nice display peice, but i would highly recommend that the only thing you cut is soft (cardboard, fruit, etc.) The blade is fairly sharp, and the sword despite its weight is fairly well balanced. there are a few problems though. the finish on metal of the handle and sheath scratches very easily, and the release button is sometimes a little stiff. The blade seems strong enough, but i am reluctant to cut anything harder than cardboard or fruit with it due to the reviews i have read on it. Overall a very nice display peice with light functionality

This sword is wonderful! As I swing it through the air i can hear it slicing through it. I love the Design of this sword. The release button is a bit stiff but so far thats all i found wrong with it. It is good for functionality. I have put it up against many things so far and it hasnt broke. It is currently my weapon of choice!

I must say this is probably my favorite sword out of my collection. I love the design of it. It's too bad it's not constructed to be more functional. I haven't really tested it, since I wouldn't want to do anything to damage it. The edge isn't very sharp, but the point is. While I agree with the other reviews in that the handle is very heavy and makes the sword off-balance, I personally like the way it feels. The only complaint I really have is that the latch is stiff.

It is a really cool sword, especially for the futuristic desgn it exhibits and the «air cooling vents» in the blade. Be careful though, I thought it wasn't sharp and I accidently ripped a very long scar in an inflatable punching bag. The only drawback is that I would have prefered a longer handle, but it still can fit both my hands.

i purcased this 'futuristic' sword a few mmonths back and soo far have been very pleased with it. to start with. the sheith and blade scratch very easily. the unsheithing 'hidden' button is platic which degrades the sowrd slightly. the blade is fine and can do major damage especially when thrusting. the sword has no problems cutting plastic milk bottles into little incy wincy peices. the sword can stab through bottles without even a millisecond of peircing time and can cut up other stuf quite easily. the blade has become slightly lose and does make a monotonus click when swinging or chopping but overal i rate the sword well. it is a beautiful peice and could do super damage if the rest of the blade was sharpened more. it is definatly a show peice but gets dirty and scratched easily

The second I opened the box I immediatly fell in-love with this Kantana. It's such a beautuful piece. This Kantana is great for new collecters who's parent's wouldn't let them get around anything sharp and they've finally gave-in or basicly anyone. This Kantana is prety heavy and the sheath is awesome. At the press of a hidden button the Sheath comes right off! It's also prety sharp, more than once have I cut myself on it. It's beautifly furneshed with high quality metal parts. I also recomend u to buy it here at Swords online because people at cheap sword shops have tryed to sell junk swords way over-priced. These are the best prices I've ever seen anywhere! This is a high quality sword for a great price I highly recomend this Kantana to anyone

First of all I would like to say that this is one of the best looking swords I have ever seen. The main problem I have with it is the blade is not recessed into the handle. Its attached onto the top of the handle, meaning, if you ever hit anything with it, you might snap the blade right off. Also, the fancy button to release the sheath, chips away at the metal part that holds it on if you dont push the button in when re-attaching the sheath. This being said, if you buy the sword to look at and show your friends, you will not be dissapointed, I intend on getting the Ninja and the Tanto.

This sword is beautiful. It has become one of my prize possesions and always will be. The only problem I have with it is that it is sometimes hard to get it to sit correctly in the scabbard and the sword is a little heavy in the handle, so it has to be off-center in its stand(not included). If you buy this sword, I recomend also buying a Tough-Cloth so you can keep it beautiful.

great looking sword, all of my friends were impressed, but the functionality is somewhat lacking. It went through cardboard cleanly for a while but after about the third box it started making a strange dinging sound if i swung it, like something was broken. THe tsuba also gets chipped over nothing, i'm pretty sure i could fix it with some paint. All in all, for the money, its a good price for the look.

I got this sword a few years ago, and it's been one of my favorites since. I wouldn't call it fully functional but it's a solid feeling sword, enough to hand to a friend that doesn't know better and call it fully functional. You can run the edge down your arm with a little force and not cut at all, but it's an amazing looking sword nonetheless, even next to my authentic katanas. Definitely worth the money even as a display piece.

Overall its a very nice, must have sword. Sometimes the locking button sticks. The paint scratches easily on the sheath and the handle may scratch as well. the handle is finely crafted and has much detail. the blade is durable, semi-flexable, and very sharp. It thrusts very easily through plastic milk jugs, cardboard, and my matress. I pretty much ruined my matress and a couple pillows with it before displaying it on my wall. It's great deal.

As an owner of a good-sized weapons collection, i know fairly well how to test and rate swords. this one arrived with a solid grip and fairly sharp blade. i had it professionally sharpened, and it still holds that edge today. my problems lie in the balance, and the construction of the handle. the blade is unaccountably thin, and threatens to snap upon any serious impact. light cuts, such as through cardboard or light vegetation are feasible, though. the handle is sized for a hand-and-a-half, unlike the 2.5 hand grip of a traditional katana. despite this, the handle weighs considerably more than the blade, making for an akward strike, and the wrist takes too much shock since the blade has almost no swinging mass. when swinging it, you find yourself stopping the handle's momentum, not the blade's. styled like a lightsaber, it feels much like one as well. MAKE NO MISTAKE, it is a beautiful, striking showpiece with a unique, memorable style and design, but simply not geared for any sparring or cutting practice. hang it on a wall, and it's well worth every penny, but if you need a cutter, get a machete, and if you want a practice sword the practical katana will serve you well.

An all-around great katana. Very sharp indeed. I dont like swinging my weapons around unless theyre kendo or the like, thats why I selected Display Only. However, to do so is entirely up to the buyer. A fine buy for the price, and although the 'secret button', is kind of easy to see. Some miss it, giving you a good laugh.

Okay first off, for all the people saying that the handle is heavy i'd like for u to try something out. place to fingers on the blade directly above the tsuba (aka the handguard) and u should notice something astonishing. That weight is there for balance. I won't say the balance is absolutely perfect because it's not however it's more balanced than most swords i've ever held. That being said, i'd like to say this, if u want a functional sword don't get this. The blade isn't fixed into the hilt properly and after simply swinging it a few times like i did it will wiggle loosely from the hilt. Now if u wanna have some fun with it poking at cardboard and such go right ahead even though even something as easy as cardboard will dull the already dull blade. but one of my friends tried using it once to cut a stick. An ordinary old thin rotten stick. The stick still exists to this day but the blade snapped clean in two. Didn't break from the hilt, the blade itself snapped showing u how weak and fragile the blade to this thing is. Now if u're like me when u get a sword, of course u want people to look at it and marvel its beauty which this does but u also want a nice sharp toy to play with at the same time and i'm sorry this doesn't cut it. It's basically only good for setting on your wall and letting it collect dust which makes me sad to have a sword that cannot find a use in the world.

Ok... right off I’m telling you I love this sword, but I do have a few complaints.
PROS: Design is awesome looking; future meets past. Blade is rather sharp and light, this is good because it still has cutting power but if you slip up your not going to cut your leg off unless you want to (beyond me why anyone would want to but that’s just me)
CONS: I don’t like the lock release; it sticks too much. Because the blade is so thin; you can break the blade (which would be very bad…) BUT since the blade is thin, if you have skill in swinging a sword this makes nice cuts. And the sword isn’t balanced very well.
Conclusion: If someone brakes into your house, it will do the job. If you’re going to practice with someone who has a sword too… don’t. If you just want something to look at and go “Who…” it is the sword for you. Now if you will excuse me, I’m going to go play with it out back now.

Like the title says... this sword is amazingly good looking.
When i opened the box I was very pleased with the sword. After the effect wore off, I started to notice things.
The scabbard paint was chipped in a couple of places.
The hilt was quite dirty, it took a while to clean it.
And after a few swings I could feel the blade start to come loose a bit from the handle. If you could find this sword with a full tang, longer handle, and better quality scabbard then buy it. Until then, buy this one and just look at it.

I use to have this sword, and I really liked it. It had a good appearance, and the blade looked good. The only problem I had, and I suggest to others buying it, that when sheathing it, don't slam it in, that'll damage and chip away at the locking mechanism the sheathe has. And of course be easy cause mine was very sharp, I cut myself a couple times playing with it.

Ok, this is indeed a really fun sword, but it's just not meant to be taken out onto the battlefield. The blade is NOT as sharp as touted and I broke mine on a box... A CARDBOARD BOX! This sword looks pretty rad and for the most part is. I hate to be a shtickler though and mention it's downfalls. The blade itself is slightly loose; that's what happens when it's machine-made I sappose. It looks pretty rad and can handle some contact use. A random knob on the bottom of the handle always seems to fall off; I can't quite figure out why they made it there in the first place. Basically the sword needs some work and if they come out with a new and improved Samurai 3001 Ninja Or Katana; those would be a better purchase.

If you want it on your wall go for it it looks nice but dont exspect to even swing it aroung in the air because the handle may let go.

Opening the package revealed a nice piece of machine craftmanship. I thought it display only and left it on the display blade out. One night and I kid you not, some person breaks into my place with me in the computer room just surfing the net. That room is the same place where I display all my collectables including this sword. First thing I did was to grab the 3000 and peek around the corner to see this guy eyeing around. He came close enough for me to pop out from around the corner and do a sort of diagonal slash. I cut his shirt from one corner to the other. This dude then dashes out the door he broke into, long story short this blade can be practical sometimes.

I swung it clean through a broom-handle with no effort, & a certain satisfaction I might add; Only to realize that was the swords utmost peak of performance. And then it hung on my wall for months- The End. Moral?: Looks DON'T Outmatch Quality...

The holes in the blade isn\'t my taste, and although it looks great, it has to weaken the blade. it is thinner than most katanas (the thinnest I own) but it still is very sturdy, with a very pointy tip (the pictures don\'t do it justice!) the handle is very sturdy, with no wobble between it and the blade. the release for the blade is quite stiff, but it is a good thing in my opinion, because as you release the blade many times, it won\'t get so loose its ineffective. the second half of the handle is actually one peice, which i think adds to the sturdiness. (is that a word?), and the center of the handle actually is two different layers of metal, a wire wrap with a type of decorative casing around it. With a all metal scabbard, I cant say enough good things about this blade. I rated it no contact use because I will NEVER test the edge of this Beautiful sword. Just don\'t swing it against a tree or anything, even real katanas were only built to cut through people, not trees! Go get an axe, people! WELL WORTH $100! EXCELLENT BUY!

I've been trying my hardest to come up with new and inventive ways of calling this thing a piece of crap but honestly words elude me. Sure it looks cool but it's functionality is very VERY limited. Hell, I broke mine on a cardboard box. After that I disassembled the thing to see how it's put together. It has a rat tail tang and believe it or not all the pieces of this sword are hot glued together. The scabbard, the blade the hilt... all of it is only glued together. And it's only made of 420 stainless steel which is very crummy steel anyway but they made the blade so damned paper thin it's worthless. 100 bucks is a little much for just a flashy display sword, you'd be better off just spending 20 bucks buying a replica off of ebay or at a flea market.
