New from the master sword smiths of Hanwei forge comes the Qi Jian, a re-creation of an ancient design that utilized one-piece forging. The entire sword, from pommel to tip, has been forged from a single billet of steel. This forging technique provides unparalleled strength and balance while exhibiting a clear, bell-like tone when lightly struck.

The sword's name originates with the Qi nation, one of the many warring states that eventually formed modern China. Legend has it that Feng-Xuan, one of the Qi people and a central character in a well known folk tale, possessed such a one piece sword and would use its ringing quality to accompany his singing.

The sword's grip is rayskin wrapped, a feature matched by the wrap on the throat of the scabbard, making for a stunningly beautiful presentation.

I confidently bought two of these unique and beautifully crafted jian after researching them and through correspondence with CAS Iberia. Structurally the swords are true to traditional jian as the blade gently tapers from base to tip with the bottom third blunt for parrying/edge-to-edge parrying; the middle third very sharp for slashing; the top third, especially the 2 inches at the tip, being razor sharp for precise stabs and arterial slashes- this being the main/most important purpose of this type of jian is why I rated it as being \"razor sharp\".If you get a chance to handle one of these impeccably crafted swords you\'ll appreciate how precise and responsive it is despite it\'s weight. I had to weigh it after I initially used it because it feels and moves lighter than the listed 2.5 lbs. Maybe it has something to do with the entire jian, with the exception of the genuine rayskin wrap and patina, being forged from a single billet of high quality carbon/manganese. Buy it at this unmatched price, and you will not be disappointed.
