The Practical Plus Katana is a new addition to the Hanwei Samurai sword line, providing a very economical cutting sword as dependable as the Practical Katana, but using more traditional fittings and construction methods. The blade is forged and differentially tempered (HRC60 edge, HRC40 back) and the hamon is prominent. The Practical Plus features genuine Same (Rayskin) on the Tsuka, with a wrap (Tsuka-Ito) specially developed for its gripping qualities. The long tang is double-pegged for security. The fittings of the Practical Plus are decorated in a Japanese Dogwood motif with dragon menuki, and the handsome Tsuba is of an iron "sunburst" design with a brass habaki. The Practical Plus Katana is fully functional with a hand-forged high-carbon steel blade with differential tempering. Not for sword to sword use.

I didnt buy it from this site, but this is an excellent sword. i highly recomend this to anyone who likes katana. its not the best for tamegashiri (heavycutting) but it will certinly do it. the hamon is acid washed to make the color of it more promenent but what can you expect for so little, for its price this is by far the best katana you can buy. no its not fulltang its rattail tang wich is the traditional method, full tang causes reverberations while rattail tang does not. the fitting are brass i believe and the blade is held in by bamboo pegs so the tsuba can be replaced if the blackend iron sunburst doesnt apeal. ALWAYS clean your katana after every use after touching the blade and at least every three months if you dont use it for... stuff. touching the blade or leaving residue will cause it to corode as it is high carbon steel. the same is authentic rayskin. basiclly this is the best sword i own for 300-400 bucks. also store your katana blade up and when drawing it have it blade up, the less contact with the sharp part of the blade and the sheath the better as it it wll ruin your edge and ruin your sheath.
