Just got it and i was all giddy, hell i still am. this thing is awsome, heavy, and just great. Fans of Sephy and FF7 this is a definately worth getting. To those who are collectors this a nice sword as well. Over 6 ft long and about 15 lbs and the handle is also metal (wood wouldn;t cut it and would break easly). The blade is dull and as it the point of the blade, but ooooooo its so dam nice. Due to the weight some may have a hard time picking it up cuase of the weight balance and the size of the sword. I am very satasfied with this weapon and definately a nice training item as well.

I just received my Masamune, today. I have to say, very nice job. Very heavy, but very well crafted. I was slightly disappoint that there was no blade, but as heavy as it is, you really don't need one. And I was hoping for a vertical stand; the stand I received is horizontal and doesn't hold very steady under the weight of the sword. I really don't have any room to put the sword. Anyways, dispite all this, I have to say it is fine piece to any sword collection as well as Final Fantasy collection.

I arrived home late this night to find by some miracle my father had moved it towards my room. lol I immediatly tore into the box like a small child at Christmas and it was everything I had hoped it to be. Being well into the 6 foot range in length, I would say 6 foot 5 inches, and just heavy even for those that believe themselves to be strong.

You couldn't want anything more and I within all my heart believe it does Sephiroth's Masamune justice, now to sharpen it...

Just recieved this sword in the mail on friday. Even though I knew all the measurements ahead of time, I was still floored by the sheer size of this weapon. The fact that there is no edge at all on the blade does not, in my opinion, take away at all from the full effect of seeing and holding the sword. This is an awesome sword in it's own right, but to a Final Fantasy fan like myself, it is even more so. It was well worth the wait.

I jus' got woken up by the delivery guy...tore it open and just stood back in disbelief...its truly amazing..the weight isnt a problem, yes it is heavy and very long, dont be fooled though its nothing less than perfection, its Sephiroths sword for sure, anyone who is an FFVII fan or even just a normal collector of rare products this sword is definatly for you!

I just got this in a few hours ago (its taken me this long to calm down). I wasnt even expecting the sheer size of this thing. I had read the measurements over and over again, and examined the pictures repeatedly, it still didnt prepare me.

Overall, its one great sword. However, being 16 lbs, and over 6 feet long, it makes it terribly unweildy, even simply carrying it around (theres a gash in my screen door now). Despite all this, im really glad I got it.

This sword is one of the most amazing things I have seen in a long time! It is extremely heavy, however it is fairly easy to lift if you are a man of average strength. The Tsuba had a few knocks to it when it arrived, but nothing too major. Aside from that, it really is an amazing piece of craftsmanship (incase you were wondering, there are no "made in" labels). The strength of the blade is astounding! An excellent piece of Final Fantasy memorabilia and extremely intimidating! I would recomend this blade to any collector.

I just recieved this yesterday and let me tell ya..HOLY !$#T! much larger than expected. Alot harder to handle too! Definitelly worth the money spent on it. I would think its more capable than light contact use, but probably not full contact use. For any FF7 fan, this is the perfect piece to your collection. No wonders why this sword was only able to be used by Sephiroth. Loving it!

I just received this sword, after five months of pre-order anticipation. my fist reaction was a comedic one as the some 6 foot box had the 8 inch words "long sword" printed on the side. the sword itself just doesnt seem legit untill you hold its 16 lb build. i must say that i was dissapointed on the news that since my pre-order, the sharpness rating was reduced. this *does reduce a bit if wow factor, but i fully understand its need due to safety. for those like myself who pre-ordered early at the slightly reduced price, and even now, it seems a great investment. and fans of the One-Winged Angel will love it.

This sword is just massive! Impressive piece overall. It does seem to have a rat tail tang, but that really has no effect to the sword. This is far too large and heavy to weild with any efficiancy. I wouldnt suggest sharpening it as if the wielder were to fumble with it or drop it, it might do a lot of damage. Its a beautiful sword though! I cant imagine ever using it, but as a display piece its just perfect! If you are a fan of the Final Fantasy series this is a real must have. Having this on your wall will impress just about anyone.

When I saw the sword had finally arrived, I dropped everything and tore into it. This thing is MASSIVE. It is an excellent addition to any collection. Due to the size, it's not well balanced, you'd almost want a five pound weight somehow attached to the end of the hilt to counter balance the blade a bit. Still, it is just an awesome sword, can't wait to display it.

...just wow. I got this today (despite living in the UK, must have been a quick trip across the pond!) and it still hasn't quite sunk in how awesome this thing is!

It is HUGE. I'm not talking "woah that's pretty big", I'm talking about uncompromisingly huge, and heavy. Lifting 7.5kg isn't a problem, I can do that easy, even with one hand, but in such a long sword it's going to be a challenge! The quality is almost perfect, a slight imperfection (curvy edge that should be straight) is near the handle on mine, but it is a superficial one that doesn't affect the massive blade itself!

It has been well worth the wait, and I can't wait to get this thing fully cleaned and polished before swinging it around a bit.
I've rated it Light Contact Use due to how relatively cumbersome it is, however it is one hell of a solidly made sword so it's entirely possible it could stand well in the hands of someone more skilled than I am!

Any fan of Final Fantasy VII will fall in love with this thing at first sight.

It is an honor to have a weapon as magnificant as the Masamune in my possession. It is what you call HEAVY, and it's disappointing that it isn't sharp, but with something that heavy and powerful I'm sure it packs a lot of destructive power. I know it'll come in handy if the world comes to an end and I'll need something to fight off the monsters and bad guys.

Simply amazing. It took 3 months of delays to finally get the sword, but it was worth the wait. First, they say it's 16 lbs, but it's closer to 20 lbs. It's also alot bigger than you'd expect. Thicker than the pics make it look. I was originally worried that, since the tang isn't the full width of the blade, there might be a chance the blade would snap off the hilt if swung hard enough. Not so. The pics on the site are prototype pics. The tang on the final version is much wider(instead of being about 1/2 the width of the full blade, it's closer to 3/4.

Overall, a very good piece. Glad I pre-ordered mine. Saved money on this outstanding replica.

Although the blade is slightly longer than I am used to at 6ft or so, I quickly mastered the art of the Masamune.

All in all, it's my favorite companion on those days when I feel the need for some 6 foot sword swingin' mayhem!

I got my Masamune several weeks ago, but i waited to comment on it until i had time to screw around with it for a while!

This is the biggest sword i have ever laid my hands on. It is very well crafted, beautiful to look at, and it weights a ton! The only problem i have with this wonderful reproduction of Sephiroth's sword is it's un-goddly weight. Other than that it's nearly perfect! If your a fan of FFVII, or of huge and impossible to weild swords, then the Masamune is definetly for you!

I won the last masamune from the swordsonline.com booth at Anime Expo(would of been nice to of had a box guys). It's taller than I am, I can barely hold it straight up, much less wield it, but it is solid piece of steel, and an amazing sword. I need to bulk up so I can use it!!!

This sword it one of the best made I have ever seen. It is sturdy and heavy..so heavy you can barely hold the thing with two hands. The only thing about this sword I don't like is the fact that it has no temper and will not take an edge.

Other than that, it is a wonderful item, and draws a lot of attention on display when people come to visit. people seem to think that it weighs a lot more than it really does.

I love it, but as I said, it could be better by tempering it so that it could take an edge.

Well,it was heavy....Very heavy.
In my opinion, it's a bit too heavy, a bit too thick, and the handle is a bit small for it's size. Sure I don't recommend for training...trust me, I've tried it, and was EXHAUSTING.
I have my own sword (made of A36 structural steel), which is smaller, easier and more easier to handle, because it's only 2 kilogramms, the blade is 1000mm, and the handle is 350mm, and 6mm thick. Oh, and made by a swordsmith.
This sword is made of knive-steel, coz as I know, 420J2 is knive-steel, not the best(as 440C), though it won't rust.
So, it's not that training sword. And NOT that COMBAT SWORD.
But still makes me jealous considering someone has one of these :)

I\'m gonna buy this sword just because people say its hard to use. I\'ve been trying to find hard to use swords like this for quite some time. I love swords that are a challenge to master.

I\'ll get it sharpened by a metal smith and patiently wait for a saya. It the biggest odachi I\'ve ever seen sold, I can\'t wait till this gets realeased.

Blake, If your still wondering (or still checking this thing) about the question you asked about The Masamune. The Masamune here is a type of sword known as a No-Datchi (horse killing sword). These were the Flamburgs of the japanese army. Designed more for strength not as much speed these swords were often used to kill a horse and then the rider while he was on the ground.

~Masamune was a great blacksmith during the tokogawa era (anyone correct me if i\'m mistaken). His works, some say, were even Holy because of the uncanny perfection. He along with Muramasa were the great smiths of the time. The difference between the two was Muramasa believed swords were a weapon of war and death and Masamune believed that swords were made to protect the weak and those who couldn\'t defend themselves. For generations these two families competed with themselves. Until one day the ruler of the time said to them make your best swords and bring them to a waterfall during the fall season. They made there bests and they met the ruler at the waterfall. the competition was to test the craft of the blade. Muramasa placed his sword under the waterfall and all the leaves that fell down the waterfall were cut clean in half. Masamune put his sword under the waterfal and all the leaves that fell down the falls were deflected off of the blade, none were damaged. At the end of the competition the ruler deemed the Muramasa family cursed and the family was executed.Masamune and Muramasa were both famous for making No-Datchis just Masamunes name seems to have survived longer through time.

I\'ve only seen this sword online but it seems like it is a must buy. i\'m 5\'9\" this will be a fun weapon to master. but first things first. The Sakabatou is mine.

Every review read here talks about how great this sword is and how heavy this sword is. PLEASE. Understand that this sword is made of stainless steel and is NOT meant for any contact. The metal is very brittle and WILL shatter on contact. There is proof on-line, just search for it. It is not balanced because it is made of stainless steel. It is much heavier but is used because it resists rust better then most steels. It is meant as a display piece, not something to use sword to sword or practice with.

If you are looking for something to hit things with... you're going to have to find a carbon spring steel or something other then stainless.

Sorry to ruin your hopes and dreams. But if this sword was made into a functional sword... it would way very little.

First, this thing is HEAVY! Well, 7Kg sounds not THAT much, no? But through the enormous length the leverage-effect makes it nearly impossible to control... The handle and tsuba is made very well, the blade has some minor scratches and its speak looks a bit "disharmonic" imo... But overall I give it 7 of 10 points! An excellent display piece, and a must for every FFVII fan... ^^

It's Great! But it's only display. No, you cannot wield this massive thing, and even if you can, you cannot wield it effectively. After you swing once, you'll be wide open for attacks. Therefore, it is display ONLY!

Now the sword itself isn't sharp (and why should it be, it's only for display), and it would be a waste to even try to sharpen it. However, the "free" horizontal stand that was included pretty much sucks. The parts were made unevenly to fit, I managed somehow, but it looks like it can fall apart at any moment. My suggestion is to find a vertical stand, but it is six feet tall, so that would be a problem.

this is an amazing sword the damn thing is as tall as me and is heavier then hell now you might think hey its only 16lb but due to the size of the sword the effect of leverage makes this harder than hell to lift over your head making a vertical swing next to impossible but it is a great piece and i love it. This is also a very cool item to show off too your friends(i have won half of this swords price in bets on who has the bigger sword)

They information given by Joseph Munger is inevitebly flawed. Masamune(the famous one) made swords in the early to mid 1300's; Three centuries before the Tokugawa Shogunate. Neither Masamune nor Muramasa were famous for No-dachi and or O-dachi, but for their Katana. It is reasonable that Masamune may have made a couple of No-Dachi for Temples as gifts to the Gods to keep the Mongols from returning. However by the time Muramasa came around the "Great Swords" had lost their appeal on the field of battle. The Honjo Masamune, a symbol of the Tokugawa shogunate and passed down from one shogun to another, is perhaps the best known Masamune sword.

Well, the size of the sword is great. Although I don't curretnly own it yet, I'm still extreamly excited about this sword. I'm for sure ordering one as soon as the sword is back in stock. I am, however, a bit dissapointed about the sword having no edge. Being a cosplayer, the whole look of the weapon(if the costume requires one) can sometimes make or break the illusion of the person who you are trying to cosplay. From the given images, the sword looks great, however, the edgless part where the edge should be is kind of obvious.

Ok this sword is... wel WAS good when it came out. HOWEVER, there is a MUCH better one available. It is made from carbon steel, the Handle is much more accurate and better length, the handle guard even looks more like Sephiroths sword than this on. The ONLY thing this had going for it was its length, thats ALL that was similar. Oh, did I forget to mention its like $50 cheaper, for a better quality and much better replica? I reserved this piece before it was released. I assumed it would resemble the Masamune from Final Fantasy VII, or a real sword in some way. I remained optimistic that I'd love the weapon once it arrived. When it did I took a look at it and was blown away by the sheer size and weight of the piece. After swinging it around like an idiot for a while, I decided I'd test it's functionality. As the Masamune was hard enough to weild, I hefted it and simply allowed the weight to carry it into a wooden post I have in the yard. It made a nice big slice. As the days went by though, I realised how dull the Masamune was. It looks like it was just a big hunk of metal machined down. The hilt holds almost no articulation. It is of course a magnificent piece for those with no eye for beauty or one in need to compensation. It would surely scare your average enemy. So, I don't think I got my money's worth, but I still keep it around. It's a neat conversation piece!

I'm Really Sorry to destroy all of your hopes and dreams but this is not a functional weapon. It is not functional steel because it's Stainless. yes it's pretty and shiny and resists rust but is brital and will break, injuring you or one of ur friends close by. I know when u read this your going to get angry for my bashing of you beautiful sephy sword but I'm doing it for your own saftey. Any weapon that is not properly tempered and forged with proper steel made spacifically for fighting WILL break if you use it to parry or attack another blade. Please take my words with respect as a fellow swordsmen I just don't want you to get hurt. I've seen what happens when a sword breaks and it normally not pretty.
