I got this sword from my soon-to-be wife after staring at it on this website for hours. When I took it out of the box it was covered with tape and a thick layer of grease. As with all carbon steel, it may rust. With a little grease or oil, it will not rust. I tested this sword against my brothers wood splitting axe and was able to split anything his axe could in a single swing. In addition, I was able to bust logs in half that were approximately 4" in diameter and about 20" or so in length. The sword sits in it sheath at home unscarred.

When I first got this sword it was much bigger and heavier than I thought it would be. It is well made, there is no loose parts and is sharpened, but the weight of it makes it somewhat difficult to wield. Overall I am very happy with this sword, it was well worth the money.**This is a Battle Ready Sword made to imitate the actual weapon used in history. In reality the men who wielded this weapon had years of trained experience and wielded it with little care for its weight**

I got this sword as a graduation present. All I can say about it is "wow". The finely crafted blade was very sharp right from the box. So sharp, I cut myself without even realizing it. The weight of the sword just seemed too right.

There are a few minor problems with it though. Due to the fact that it's carbon steel, it rusts easily and must be cared for continually. Though I wouldn't really recommend it for use, it can and will cut through wood with ease due to it's shear weight. If use like that, it might end up needing to be sharpened afterwards.

Overall, this is an excellent collector's piece. The simplistic look and fine craftsmanship of it makes it shine like a gem. I would highly recommend this to any collector.

I love this sword, it is currently my favorite one as well. If you are a fan of two-handed weapons then this is exactly what you are looking for.

Quality: Decent
Sharpness: Slight Edge
Functionality: Full Contact Use

The sword is sturdy, and seems to have a decent heat treatment. However, its weight and lack of balance leave much to be desired. And although this sword may be inspired by irish ring hilted swords, the design is far from being historically accurate, having beveled edges and an oversized hilt. Even large swords of this type usually weighed on average between 2-4 pounds historically, whereas this particular one weighs closer to 7 or 8. While this weight may lend itself well to cutting logs, that is not what swords were designed for. As mentioned before, the steel seems to be of good quality, but this alone does not make it functional or battle ready. Not bad if you dont care about historical accuracy or its heavy weight, but for the price there are better ones out there.
