As far as sharpening an existing edge or repairing very minor notches or scratches, this sharpener does quite well; it has improved many of my edged weapons. But one cannot expect it to completely eliminate major flaws, such as heavy notching or a poorly factory-sharpened edge. I lent it to my brother to sharpen the pocket knife our father bought him from a local bargain store, and the two to three inch blade actually completely wore out the sharpener beyond practical use. But stick to polishing and finishing touches on existing sharp edge, and you will be thoroughly pleased with this item.

It's an ok item I guess... I tried sharpening a tanto of mine with it, and couldn't get it sharp at all (tanto was already semi-sharp)... but maybe it was just a duff blade.
There's probably better out there, but i guess you can't go too wrong for the price. Still, when i next order from Swords Online (and I WILL, it's a great shop!), I'll pick up a better sharpener...

The "Pre-set ceramic sharpening rods" turned out to work much better than i had originally thought. I've sharpened pocket knives, folding knives, and even a ninja star with it. Perfect sharpening every time. I'd highly recommend it.

I ordered this item not too long ago and found it to be well worth the money. I own several knives of varying size and shape and this sharener did a wonderful job with all of them. I eve found a lock blade knife that which had a slightly damaged blade with a significant knick in it. I used this sharpener on it and the knife was like new in no time at all. I would recommend this to any knife owner, you will not regret buying it at all

This sharpener is very nice. I own a Gerber knife that I bought elsewhere, and if you know Gerber, you know it was already like 8/10 on the Weaponmasters' sharpness scale (very sharp). But it dulled after a while, so I bought this sharpener. It took about five minutes to visibly improve the sharpness of the blade, and I almost cut myself when I ran my finger down it. The only problem I see with this device is that the sharpening rods wear down very quickly, so buy four or five.

I bought this sharpener recently and when i got it, I attempted to sharpen one of my swords, and the small stone cracked and popped right out of the sharpener, and it was no longer usable, the rock also wears down very fast, but what can you expect for 3 bucks.

This sharpener is a piece of crap. Spend the money on a much better one, this thing isn't even worth $3 USD...
