got this sword when I was first starting my collection. It took a month for my order to arrive, and after 30 days of unbearable anticipation, I was disappointed to find that the blade was flimsy as all get-out. I was able to bend it with one hand. Fed up with it, I took it out and tested it against a tree trunk. The tree trunk won, and the blade has been irreparably bent ever since. It fell into disrepair and is now rusted. I've since studied Tai Chi swords and I realized that the blade was meant to be flexible. I only screwed it up because I was inexperienced. The blade is super long and the sword is very heavy, but it is still only a one-handed sword. It's excellent for fencing and the length of the blade will keep your opponent too far away to do any damage to you. This sword IS NOT for brute strength attacks, it\'s about finesse and technique. The grip and pommel are VERY well crafted. If you want an authentic, artistic sword, get this. If you want something to re-enact Braveheart with, get something sturdier like a Claymore.

about the last guys review
i am in no way making fun of the last guy but if you use a HIGH CARBON HAND MADE KATANA against a mock battle stage sword the katana or any other high carbon will win

Editors Notes: In most cases of these kind, the Live or Stage steel sword will actually put the high carbon item to shame. It has nothing to do with the strength of the material(high carbon blades are definitely stronger than non), the problem is that stage steel items are often 2-3 times thicker than their functional counterpart and as such, it would be like placing a Champion Featherweight Boxer in a ring with a Well-rounded Super Heavyweight fighter.

Okay, if your going to buy this to go into sim battles, do so with other medieval weapons. I found out the hard way. My friend has a 1200 dollar hand crafted katana, and well we decided to have a battle, and he struck down at me and i blocked.. needless to say my blade was sliced in two and i had to go to the emergency room. I had no problems going into full contact with the blade with other medieval blades, but now I'm saving up money to get myself a really well crafted katana.

this sword is awesome I have only had it for a day but I like it a lot. it is heavy for me but I am not used to swords yet. my friends which are very into swords like it a lot. the blade isn't to sharp but I like it that way. all in all this sword is awesome I made a good choice.

This sword is incredibly well suited to my personal style - scare the opposition to death. Though this sword is intended as a thrusting weapon, the quick-slashing, inexorably advancing tactic suits this blade fine. The reach advantage given by this sword is considerable, and i would recommend it to anyone given to laughing maniacally while cutting limbs from things other than trees.

this sword is absolutely great. its very sturdy, and the spring steel construction is very forgiving of any harsh treatment you might unleash upon it. when i first got it, the blade was very sharp and could cut me if i wasn't careful. one thing about this sword is its length. its long, real long. it still surprises me how long it is sometimes. but the handle is only big enough for a one hand grip, unless you intend to hold it with one hand on top of the other. it is a great piece for any collection, and is completely battle ready, as advertised. highly recommended.
