This is an excellent staff. I should note, however, that it is much heavier than the 5 foot tapered staff (see my review under user from CO), and is certainly more dangerous to the untrained user. The staff is very well made, and measures 1.25 inches at the center, tapering down to 1 inch at the ends. Nicely finished and stained, and solid oak makes for a nice feel. My only complaint is that the packaging includes a sticker on the wood itself, which is very difficult to remove, and may create problems in handling. As a display piece, well, it is just a stick, but its a very nice one at that.

I bought this staff about a year ago and I've used it for my Bo-jutsu classes in sparring, drills, beating up trees, ameteur movies, you name it. It's very dented of course (that's what happens when you hit trees and other bo), but has never been broken in any place or shown any sign that it could break. The weight is wonderful and gives the weilder a good work out. Be careful if you've never handled a 6 foot bo before, you'll hit your sides a great deal if you're not used to it. A wonderful item and one of my favorite weapons in my possesion.

I was over at a friend of mines house and we were sparring with wooden weapons and when he brought out the staff I thought it was pretty cool. When I held it I noticed that it was lightweight and very sturdy but it had kind of an akward feel to me because I had never really used a bo staff before. But all and all it is a great item and I might buy it myself.
